Mood Board - Aztec

Hey ladies!

Apologies for being AWOL for so long but life's been a bit of a whirlwind since I got back from my travels! I've been interning for a production company working on high fashion magazines since I go home and last night I started to feel a bit inspired. Before a shoot we always have to put together mood boards so the team know what we want to achieve from the shoot, this had me thinking about why I didn't do it for myself and my wardrobe! My sister has also been bugging me for weeks to help her update her style and put some ideas together so I'm killing a few birds with one stone. So here I am getting back on with blogging and I thought I'd show you what I came up with as my first "mood board" which was very much aztec inspired!

Boohoo Lulu Micro Aztec Leggings - £12
ASOS Oversized Tunic Top £25
Topshop Ambush Side Zip Boots £75
ASOS Aztec Spike Earrings £10
ASOS Pieces FIlane Necklace £10

Aztec is huge at the moment and I'm jumping on that bandwagon fast - I love the whole look and feel and managed to did up some vintage aztec pieces of my Mum's from back in the day when it was fashionable the first time round!

Lots of love,
HSD xx

Vaseline Crème Brûlée Limited Edition

Vaseline Crème Brûlée Limited Edition

I can't wait to get back to the UK and get my hands on a few pots of the yummy new limited edition Vaseline. Vaseline is a must have in every girls beauty box and handbag, especially in winter. It went nationwide on the 3rd of November so it should be in shops now! I haven't had a sniff yet but I just know I'm going to be madly in love with so GO NOW and get your hands on this baby!

DIY Microdermabration

I'm currently spending a bit of time in New Zealand visiting family and connecting with my kiwi roots! So after 5months in this wonderful country I'll be head back to the UK in 2weeks and I'm pretty sure my skin is going to take a bit of a battering with the change in climate, so I've just given it a bit of TLC in the form of diy microdermabration

I haven't taken any pictures because I woke up got my cuppa then went straight to it! Please forgive me but I didn't feel very photogenic this morning!
It’s easy and will leave you feeling wonderfully fresh faced and ready to face the world!
Coming in and out of the cold into central heated houses can be really bad for your skin and we all know we need to keep out faces moisturised, and always wear a foundation with SPF but sometimes that’s just not enough, sometimes you have to show your skin that extra TLC ;) I do this through some DIY microdermabrasion! Its easy to make up, cheap and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and really fresh.
3 parts baking soda
1 part water
THAT’S IT!
Mix it into a paste and rub it gently into your skin in a circular motion then rinse with warm water. Your skin will love you for it! Your skin will want to give you a great big hug :)
Have a great day!

Nude Lipstick

I've become a huge fan of lipstick in the last 6months, the colour is better and it last longer than lipgloss, and has the added bonus of not being sticky which we all know is a nightmare in the windy English weather! Nude lipstick is fantastic go-to colour for all day everyday wear. My favourite is MAC sheen supreme in Bare Again.

MAC Sheen Supreme in Bare Again

This colour is a new formulation on their old nude lipstick, Bare. Bare Again has a great shine, is smooth and goes on so easily without you even having to use a mirror if you're skilled enough! This colour is brilliant for everything from work to a night out and allows you to make a really great statement with your eye makeup while at the same time wearing a great lip colour! Enjoy!

Leopard Print Manicure

Today I took the time to paint my nails, and thought I should share the results and the process with you. I didn’t take stage by stage photos unfortunately as I didn’t think I’d find myself blogging about it, but its so easy I thought I’d share it with you. I know its been done everywhere and is featured on loads of blogs but here's my suggestions and tips for an easy leopard mani.

Leopard Print Manicure using OPI's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides range

I used OPI’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides range which comes in a great sampler pack of 4 mini varnishes.
Skull & Glossbones
Sparrow Me The Drama
Mermaids Tears
Planks A Lot
Then I used OPI black onyx to make the outer of my leopard print. This black is a great black with real shine and depth when used alone.
I started with 3 coats of Skull & Glossbones, I apply it quite thin so it dries quickly, hence the third coat so the colour is solid enough. I then added a few dots of Sparrow Me The Drama and Planks A Lot on just my ring finger and thumb.
I didn’t use Mermaids Tears in this manicure as it was a bit too similar to Skull & Glossbones to really stand out.
So to make the outer and really turn those dots into leopard print take your OPI black onyx and really scrape the polish off the brush on the sides of the bottle so the brush goes as flat as possible. By taking off the excess polish it means you won’t get a huge blob of black on your lovely nails. So press the flat straight down onto your nail around the dot like your using a stamp. It doesn’t matter if you don’t get it perfect the imperfections only make it better, continue around each dot!
Let it dry and add a top coat - done! I only do it on a couple of fingers, I think doing them all is a bit too OTT sometimes.
